I have read this countless times, but never got around to comment. I very much like how you write in general. Every detail is here for a reason, the dialogue is awesome.

A lot of showing, not just telling that X loves Y.

You do not get overly sappy, there are the sarcastic jokes, Jonah is so lovely, but you can tell he is a real child who can sometimes get annoying etc.

And I totally even understand Alona, you made her reasons very believable.
