There is something entirely attractive about a man caught on the edge of a bad choice, and no choice at all. And Don just has so much lurking underneath his surface, it makes you want to stick your fingers in and agitate. ;)

This is the only fandom in which I've ever been able to happily read gen. (and write it, apparently *g*)

And you write it so well! I'm wholeheartedly jealous! :) I've read Gen in other fandoms, but this is the only fandom I've seen where the same impulses that could promote a sexual relationship are integral to two characters non-sexual relationship. Don and Charlie are beautifully fucked up, and trying so hard not to be at the same time. I love it!

I've always thought (and heard it expressed by others) that slash isn't about the sex (or not entirely about the sex *g*). Slashers want that emotional hit, too, that I-would-die-for-you connection that slash relationships give us.

Exactly. Slash is about intense emotional connections finding an outlet (mostly, in a sexy way), but the pressure put on most characters (cops, Sentinels, mounties, jedi, etc.) is such that emotional bonds are that much stronger. Add in the familial element and it's like sealing the Eppes boys in a crock pot and going for a walk! In their case the bonds are so relatively new and tenuous, as they begin to relate to each other as adults rather then remembered constructs...it just makes for great stories (like yours!)
