That's really how it's turning out, isn't it? *bg* I find the thought of being helplessly out of control fascinating -- and as much as Dean is the tough warrior, I think the show's done a fantastic job of showing how completely damaged and vulnerable the character really is. And how fun to take advantage of that! *bg* (And I'm thrilled that you liked the creatures, too. :D)

I'm definitely planning to put them back together -- mostly. *bg* Unrelentingly bleak just isn't my style. Hopefully it will come together well.
